Q: What brought you to Ubuntu?
Miranda Walker
"After 15 years working with iconic brands in the advertising industry I knew I wanted to launch a brand I could really believe in. Fairtrade was the obvious place to go because it transforms lives today and works for the long term. To my mind it is the right way to trade. Launching a cola felt like a bold move – and the more that people said we couldn’t do it the more determined I was that we would – cola is the most popular soft drink in the world – of course it should be available Fairtrade!"

"Having recently graduated with a Social Sciences degree from Cambridge, and with little idea of where to even start looking for a job, I stumbled across Ubuntu. I’ve always been interested in Fairtrade, and knew I wanted to work in an ethical position, so when I heard about a vacancy for Office Manager I thought I’d apply – and now I’m here! Working in a small, new company means my job is always interesting and varied, but best of all I’m working for a company whose ethics I totally believe in."

"The stars were aligned! After a long spell in what is commonly referred to as the “conventional” world I was looking hard for a move into the ethical world and especially into Fairtrade, whose philosophy I strongly believe in. One day, almost by accident, a friend at Oxfam mentioned this project of a new company willing to launch a Fairtrade cola. I thought the idea brilliant and the rest, as they say, is history. It’s great to be part of this exciting venture, taking Fairtrade into the iconic cola market, getting to know the sugar cane producers in Malawi and seeing with my own eyes that Fairtrade is a wonderful way to bring about changes in a positive way."
